Basel in talks to sign Julien Duranville on loan from Borussia Dortmund

Negotiations are in progress for a loan transfer as the Swiss club makes a strong effort to sign the winger.

Julien Duranville, 19, is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this month on a loan without a purchase option, as the German club still believes in the talented Belgian, whose contract runs until 2028. Swiss club FC Basel is making a strong effort to sign the winger, and negotiations for a loan deal are in progress. According to Patrick Berger, the two clubs are in direct talks, and although an agreement has not been reached, discussions are progressing positively.

Coach Niko Kovac has also indicated that there is significant interest from clubs in loaning Duranville, who is seeking more playing time than he received at Dortmund, having made two appearances in the Regionalliga West and none in the Bundesliga this season. Other clubs recently linked with a transfer include Sevilla and his former club Anderlecht. Duranville has a current Transfermarkt market value of €7.50m; Borussia Dortmund signed him from Anderlecht in January 2023 for a fee of €8.5 million.
