Goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who holds both Australian and English citizenship, has completed a permanent move from Charlton Athletic to Premiership side Dundee United, signing a six-month contract. The 26-year-old Australian youth international's transfer was prompted by a lack of playing time at Charlton this season, where he had made only a single appearance in the League Cup. This marks a return to Scotland for Maynard-Brewer, who previously had a loan spell with Ross County.
Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin stated that this was a transfer the club had wanted to complete, as he was familiar with the player from his time at Ross County and had tracked his progress in England. Goodwin commented that Maynard-Brewer brings experience and maturity, has already shown he can perform in demanding leagues such as the Scottish Premiership and League One, and will add competition to the goalkeeping department. Maynard-Brewer, who joined Charlton in July 2017 and has not yet earned a senior cap for Australia, has a current market value of €300k according to Transfermarkt.
