Arnaud Nordin joins Rennes on loan from Mainz

The French winger sought a transfer in order to get more playing time.

Mainz has announced that French winger Arnaud Nordin, 27, will join the French club Rennes on a loan deal. The German club explained that Nordin had approached them with a wish to move to Rennes in order to get more playing time. Mainz added that this gives Nordin the chance to demonstrate his ability at the highest level in his home country and wished him success.

Nordin had been with Mainz for a year after signing from Montpellier, and his contract with the Bundesliga club is set to run until the summer of 2028. This season in the Bundesliga, he has made 13 appearances without scoring a goal or providing an assist. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €4.00m. In January 2026, it was reported that Stade Brest had an offer of around €2 million rejected. He originally moved to Mainz from Montpellier in January 2025 for a fee of €1 million.
