Moroccan international centre-back Nayef Aguerd, 30, has a specific departure clause in his Olympique de Marseille contract for a fixed amount of 15 million euros, which must be paid in a single installment. Al Sadd showed concrete interest in the defender, and discussions took place between the two clubs. The Qatari club was unable to pay the full cost and stopped pursuing him, recruiting Alessio Romagnoli instead. During the discussions, an alternative deal was considered that involved midfielder Mohamed Camara plus a financial payment in exchange for Aguerd, but this option was not completed.

Aguerd's contract with Marseille runs until summer 2030, and he earns an annual salary of 4,910,000 euros. The defender has 64 caps and 2 goals for Morocco. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €15 million. Aguerd joined Marseille from West Ham in September 2025 for a fee reported to be €23 million. He had moved to the Premier League club from Rennes in July 2022 for €35 million.
