Al Ahly SC has decided to recruit two strikers during the upcoming summer transfer window to strengthen its attack for the next season and continental competitions. After holding discussions with Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès for Soufiane Benjdida, the Egyptian club is now interested in Zimbabwean international Tawanda Maswanhise of Motherwell FC. The profile of the 23-year-old, who also holds English citizenship and has 17 caps and 2 goals for Zimbabwe, is viewed favorably by Al Ahly's recruitment team, which has been monitoring his progress for several months since he joined the Scottish club from Leicester City's U21 team in summer 2024.
Al Ahly considers Maswanhise a modern, versatile striker who can play centrally or on the wings, bringing speed and impact. The club is currently studying all financial and sporting aspects of the potential transfer, although the player is under contract with Motherwell until 2027 with an option for an additional extension. According to Transfermarkt, the centre-forward has a current market value of €3.50m. He has also been linked with Rangers and Celtic.
