Ajax has shown interest in 26-year-old Netherlands international right-back Lutsharel Geertruida and has made contact with both RB Leipzig and the player. The Amsterdam club is reportedly considering a loan deal, but Leipzig would prefer a permanent sale. Geertruida, whose contract runs until 2029, was already known to be a primary target for PSV, who now face competition. Leipzig's asking price for a permanent transfer is said to be between €18 and €20 million, which is considered high for PSV.

BILD reports that Geertruida prefers a loan, as a permanent move to the Eredivisie would require him to take a significant salary cut. De Telegraaf previously wrote that PSV might wait until later in the transfer window, hoping Leipzig would then agree to a loan. Ajax is also considering this scenario. Geertruida joined Leipzig from Feyenoord in August 2024 for a fee of €20 million. The asking price for interested Premier League clubs was reportedly higher earlier in the summer, at around €25 million in July and €30 million in May 2026.
