Aberdeen near loan deal for Liam Morrison

The Scottish defender is nearing a loan transfer from Queens Park Rangers.

Aberdeen are nearing an agreement for a loan deal for Scottish defender Liam Morrison from Queens Park Rangers. It is understood the 22-year-old will join the Reds until the end of the season to play more regular first-team football, which could help his chances of being included in Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for the World Cup. Aberdeen's move to strengthen their backline follows Alfie Dorrington's recall by Tottenham Hotspur and an injury to Gavin Molloy.

Morrison, a former Celtic youth player, moved to Bayern Munich in 2019 before signing for QPR in the summer of 2024, and also spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic during the 2023/24 season. The centre-back has made 12 appearances in the Championship this season and has 11 caps for the Scotland U21 team. His contract with QPR expires in June 2026, and he has a current Transfermarkt market value of €1.00m.
