Celje have confirmed that the experienced Slovenian defender Žan Žužek has arrived. He is joining the team after four years in Italy with Bari and in Turkey with Genclerbirligi. Žužek will be able to help Celje in the league stage of the UEFA Europa League. He most recently played in the Turkish top division, making 75 appearances and scoring four goals.

29-year-old Slovenian Centre-Back Žan Žužek is expected to join Celje soon, although the deal has not yet been finalized. The potential transfer is considered surprising because Žužek is a regular player for his Turkish club, Genclerbirligi. He joined the club on August 8, 2024, and his contract is valid until June 30, 2027. Žužek has 10 caps for the Slovenia U21 team, and his current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €700k.
