Excelsior has presented Yacqub Finey, a 22-year-old Swedish forward who joined from the Swedish club GIF Sundsval. He has signed a three-year contract in Rotterdam that includes an option for one more season. According to technical director Mark Ruijl, Finey is a versatile attacker who can be used in multiple positions. Ruijl also described Finey's combination of height, technique, and deep threat as making him an interesting addition. Ruijl added that the club is convinced Finey has potential for significant growth. The player stated that he had a very good impression from his conversation with the technical director and believes Dutch football suits him. Excelsior has not made any statements about a transfer fee, and Finey's value is estimated to be 500,000 euros. During the 2025/2026 season in the Superettan domestic league, Finey scored 17 goals and provided 7 assists in 67 appearances.
