Yannic Stein Transfer from FC Union Berlin to Hansa Rostock
Bild reports that Yannic Stein is making an immediate transfer from Union Berlin to Hansa Rostock. Stein, 21, is leaving Union Berlin for the 3. Liga club, and is the second young goalkeeper to depart the Bundesliga side in one week. The Berlin native was considered a significant goalkeeping talent at Union but did not progress beyond a substitute role. Stein stated that leaving was difficult as Union and Berlin had been his home for many years, but his loan spells had demonstrated the importance of regular playing time for his development and his desire for more responsibility. After his 2019 move from Viktoria 1889, he went through Union's youth teams, trained with the professionals, and was included in squads for Bundesliga and European matches. To gain match experience, the goalkeeper was loaned to fourth-division VfB Lübeck and later to Babelsberg 03, for whom he played 26 games. Sports boss Horst Heldt, 56, confirmed that the club understood Stein's wish for a new challenge. Heldt also confirmed that they had worked together to find a solution that was sensible for all parties and wished the player the best in Rostock.
