After a potential move to Hapoel Tel Aviv did not proceed, 29-year-old Israeli-Hungarian left-back Yahav Gurfinkel is now close to returning to his home country to join Maccabi Tel Aviv. It is reported that the two sides are nearing an agreement, a development that would satisfy his current club AEK, as they wish to end his contract since he is no longer part of their plans, despite having only joined them in January 2026. Gurfinkel, who has 14 caps for the Israel U21 team, has a contract with the Cypriot club until May 2028 and a current Transfermarkt valuation of €1.30m.
