Napoli defender Vittorio Gambardella is close to leaving the club permanently, with negotiations with Avellino at an advanced stage. The move to the Serie B side could be finalized within hours and is contrary to what was expected about a month ago, when a different type of transfer to a Serie C club was anticipated. According to TMW, Gambardella is to join Avellino on a three-year contract. The deal is structured as a free transfer which includes a significant percentage for Napoli on a future resale. The plan for the 20-year-old defender is to then be immediately loaned to Arzignano Valchiampo in Serie C.
