Daniele Faggiano, Salernitana's sporting director, has targeted 32-year-old Italian central midfielder Valerio Verre, considering him an important signing for the club's effort to gain promotion. Negotiations are ongoing between the parties to reach an agreement with the player, who most recently played in Serie B with Sampdoria and Palermo. Verre is ready to return to playing after six months without a club, and a move to Salernitana would be his first experience in Serie C. He has eight caps for the Italy U21 team.
