Václav Jurečka has joined Baník Ostrava as the club's second official winter reinforcement after terminating his contract with Turkish club Rizespor. The 31-year-old forward stated his desire to return to the Czech Republic and mentioned that he had been in contact with Baník. He explained that the club's owner contacted him, from which he felt a very strong interest. Jurečka added that Baník is a major club with excellent fans, and the fact that he lives in Ostrava made the decision simpler. Luděk Mikloško, the head of FC Baník Ostrava's sports section, said that the club was looking for an experienced, goal-scoring striker and that Jurečka perfectly fits this profile. Mikloško pointed out that the player is proven in the Czech league, has played for the national team, and possesses significant experience from difficult league and cup matches with Slavia, where he successfully scored goals. He also expressed confidence that Jurečka's excellent orientation in the penalty area and finishing ability would benefit the team and that the club's young players would develop alongside him.
