Newcastle United have announced on their official X account that Travis Hernes has completed a permanent move to FC Groningen. The midfielder's departure follows a successful loan spell with the Dutch side, where his performances resulted in the club signing him permanently.

Voetbalprimeur.nl has reported that FC Groningen exercised the purchase option on Travis Hernes. The Norwegian is moving permanently from Newcastle United, where he had been on loan during the past season. The 20-year-old has signed a contract that runs until the middle of 2030.

According to Voetbalprimeur.nl, it is uncertain whether FC Groningen will make the transfer of Travies Hernes permanent. The player was loaned to the club with an option to buy.

Hernes, who possesses both Norwegian and Jamaican citizenship, started his career in Norway before relocating to England to join Shrewsbury Town's youth academy. He debuted for Shrewsbury Town's first team at the age of 16 and moved to Newcastle United in the summer of 2023. While at Newcastle, Hernes primarily played with the Under-21 national team and took part in several pre-season matches with the Premier League squad.
