Travis Hernes Transfer from Newcastle United U21 to FC Groningen
FC Groningen has secured a loan deal for midfielder Travis Hernes from Newcastle United. The 19-year-old Norwegian is set to spend the remainder of the season at Euroborg. The club, known as the Pride of the North, has arranged a purchase option in the loan agreement, allowing them to permanently sign the young international at the season's end. Hernes, who possesses both Norwegian and Jamaican citizenship, started his career in Norway before relocating to England to join Shrewsbury Town's youth academy. He debuted for Shrewsbury Town's first team at the age of 16 and moved to Newcastle United in the summer of 2023. While at Newcastle, Hernes primarily played with the Under-21 national team and took part in several pre-season matches with the Premier League squad. Recently, Hernes was loaned to Danish club Aalborg BK, where he made 12 appearances. He is set to join Groningen's first team under the guidance of coach Dick Lukkien and will don the number 7 jersey.
