Dynamo Dresden's 21-year-old German attacking midfielder Tony Menzel, an academy product of the club, is seeking a move to a 3rd division team to gain more playing time after making only 13 brief appearances last season. According to BILD information, Rot-Weiss Essen has shown interest in the player. Essen's interest is partly driven by a need for new midfield personnel following the departure of Torben Müsel to second-division club Magdeburg. The club had already pursued Menzel in the winter, but Dynamo blocked a move at that time. BILD also reports that Dresden will not prevent a move on this occasion. A one-season loan is being considered, which is possible as Menzel's contract runs until 2028. After last season, coach Thomas Stamm stated that a loan can be a great option in the summer if it is a good fit, adding that while development is about more than just playing minutes, they are a significant part of it. Menzel has a current Transfermarkt market value of €600k, and 1860 München have also been linked with the player.
