Leeds United were among several Premier League clubs represented at the Republic of Ireland Under-21s' 3-1 victory over England in Cork to watch Irish forward Tommy Lonergan. Sunderland, Everton, Brentford, and Brighton also had scouts in attendance to assess Lonergan, who scored two goals in the match, bringing his total to 4 goals in 9 appearances for the Ireland U21 side. The 22-year-old's performance at Waterford, a club he joined in July 2025, has led to increased interest from clubs across England after he scored 15 goals during 2026. The interest in the former Fleetwood Town player extends beyond the Premier League, with a number of Championship clubs also tracking him. Lonergan's contract with Waterford runs until November 2027. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €225k. Sources indicate that Lonergan is a subject of significant interest to clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
