Tom McIntyre has joined Aberdeen on a short-term deal until the end of the season as a free agent after leaving English Championship side Portsmouth. McIntyre is available for Aberdeen's upcoming match against Celtic, subject to international clearance. McIntyre said that when the opportunity to join Aberdeen arose, it was something he was really keen to make happen. He stated it is a huge club and as a Scottish player he knows how passionate the fans are, so he hopes he can contribute to helping the team finish the season strongly. Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said that McIntyre is an experienced defender who will add quality and depth to their defensive options where they are somewhat limited at the moment. Pfannenstiel added that McIntyre has a strong background and they believe he has the ability to have an effect for the club, noting that he is eager to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership.
