A secret meeting was held in Leipzig a few weeks ago between representatives for the Earthquakes and the former Chelsea striker. If the transfer is finalized in January, an agreement between RB Leipzig and San Jose is not anticipated to be a problem. Werner's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and he is currently not being selected for the team at the Bundesliga club, receiving very little playing time, and has made only three appearances in the league this season.
