Two third division clubs, SC Verl and newly promoted TSG Hoffenheim II, had expressed concrete interest in Hoffmann in the summer. Hertha BSC retained the homegrown player, as there was a shortage of defenders at the time due to various injuries. Hoffmann now plans to make a move in the winter and favors a permanent departure from the club. Hertha's idea of possibly extending the current contract, which runs until 2026, by another year is not favored by the player.
