It is understood that Scottish winger Thomas Hatton, 20, will join Ayr United on loan for the season. Hatton's Celtic contract runs until the summer of 2028. He is predominantly a left winger and can also play on the right flank. Hatton, who joined Celtic in July 2024, scored in Celtic B's 3-1 victory over Hamilton Academical in the Challenge Cup last week. Speaking after Hatton came off the bench and almost scored in Celtic's final pre-season friendly against AC Milan last month, manager Martin O'Neill said he had congratulated Hatton for his time on the field. O'Neill added that Hatton is prepared to challenge opponents, a quality he thinks is like a dying art and which he considers great. The manager stated that Hatton will receive full encouragement and described him as a young player establishing himself in the sport. O'Neill mentioned there is a challenge for Hatton to secure a place in the team, but said he was very impressed with him, just as he has been with his attitude throughout the pre-season.
