Globo.com reports that Fluminense is making efforts to encourage 42-year-old centre-back Thiago Silva to extend his contract. Fluminense players, including full-backs Guga and Renê, used social media to ask Thiago Silva to renew his contract until 2027, and the club also made a social media post asking the idol to stay forever. Thiago Silva has not publicly decided what he will do in the future of his career after the end of the year. After the elimination in the Libertadores semifinal, the defender stated that it was his last match in the continental tournament. However, when asked about a possible retirement, he avoided confirming it and also said that this did not mean he would leave the club. Thiago Silva has spoken publicly several times about the difficulty of being far from his family, who remain in London. The Brazilian international has 113 caps and 7 goals for his country. Since joining Fluminense in July 2026, he has made 7 appearances and provided 1 assist in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €500.0K.
