There is strong interest from Catania, the leader of Serie C's Girone C, in signing 27-year-old Nigerian-Italian central midfielder Theophilus Awua from fellow Girone C club Cavese. In a press conference, Cavese's coach, Fabio Prosperi, confirmed he was aware of some talk regarding Awua's potential move but stated that it was of little interest to him. Prosperi also revealed that the player would not be called up for the next match against Giugliano, explaining that Awua had declared himself unavailable because of knee pain and a fear of getting injured. Awua's contract with Cavese is valid until June 30, 2027. In the current 2025/2026 season, he has made 17 appearances in Serie C - Girone C, providing one assist. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €200k.
