Sunderland are preparing to open talks with Sassuolo to sign 23-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international Tarik Muharemovic for a fee in the range of €35-40M. Sunderland has offered the player a contract until 2031 with a salary of €3.5M per year plus bonuses. Juventus also made a lower offer for Muharemovic and possesses a 50% sell-on clause on any sale. The centre-back joined Sassuolo in July 2025 for a fee reported to be €3 million. His current contract expires in 2031. In the 2025/2026 Serie A season, he made 32 appearances, scoring two goals. Muharemovic has a market value of €25.00m, according to Transfermarkt, and has also attracted interest from clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan. Bournemouth reportedly made a €35 million offer in June 2026. In early July 2026, Sassuolo's asking price was cited as being as high as €38-40 million.
