Sotiris Alexandropoulos, a 24-year-old Greek player who is not considered needed by Sporting, was preparing to terminate his contract to sign with Turkish club Gençlerbirligi. The move collapsed after the midfielder failed his medical examinations and consequently returned to Lisbon. Sporting is now looking for a new club for the player, who arrived in 2022 but did not become a regular player, resulting in loan spells at Olympiacos, Standard Liège, and Fortuna Dusseldorf, none of which activated a purchase clause. His contract with the Lisbon club is valid until 2027, and he has 10 caps for Greece. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.20m.
