Middlesbrough's English forward Sonny Finch has joined National League North leaders South Shields on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old has made six first-team appearances for Middlesbrough but has not played for the senior side since early last season, and the club hopes he will benefit from regular football. Finch, whose contract expires this summer although Middlesbrough has an option to extend it by a year, had a loan spell at MK Dons last season that ended after just seven appearances. This season in Premier League 2, Finch has scored 5 goals in 9 appearances. The forward has also been capped by England at U18 level, scoring once in three games.
