Tuttomercato reports that Carrarese has been closely monitoring Simone Pafundi's situation for several weeks. The decision on the player's future will reportedly depend on the indications from the Udinese summer training camp.

According to La Nazione, Carrarese has targeted Simone Pafundi, a 20-year-old Italian attacking midfielder, for a potential loan move. Udinese does not appear to plan on using the player for the upcoming season, making another loan in Serie B probable following his previous spell at Sampdoria. Carrarese, which is a Tuscan club, has demonstrated an ability to develop young players, which could persuade Udinese to approve the transfer. A significant factor favouring the move is the presence of coach Gabriele Cioffi at Carrarese, who previously worked with Pafundi at Udine and gave him his Serie A debut in May 2022. It is reported that the coach is convinced he can give the player a key role in the team's project. Pafundi has been capped five times for the Italy U21 team, joined Udinese in July 2022, and made 19 appearances in Serie A during the 2025/2026 season. His contract with the club runs until June 2028, and he has a current Transfermarkt market value of €4.50m.
