Simon Ngapandouetnbu Transfer from Olympique Marseille to Montpellier
Simon Ngapandouetnbu has been sold to Montpellier, but Olympique de Marseille retains a buy-back option.
Simon Ngapandouetnbu, aged 22, has officially joined Montpellier from Olympique de Marseille. The Cameroonian goalkeeper, who was loaned to Nîmes last season, did not play for the first team of Marseille. He will be competing with Mathieu Michel, following the departure of Benjamin Lecomte to Fulham.
Olympique de Marseille is reportedly planning to terminate the contract of Simon Ngapandouetnbu, a 22-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper. Following a successful loan spell at Nîmes, where he participated in 26 matches last season, he is anticipated to join Montpellier. Montpellier is in need of a goalkeeper after an unsuccessful attempt to sign Yann Liénard from Monaco. Simon joined Marseille in October 2019, having been brought in by the then-sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta. Despite being seen as a promising talent, he never managed to make an appearance for the first team. Transfermarkt lists the player's current market value at €500k. Montpellier, which is currently competing in Ligue 2, provides him with an opportunity to finally demonstrate his abilities at a higher level.
