Sekou Tidiany Bangoura Transfer from Ironi Kiryat Shmona to Columbus Crew
Columbus Crew has reached an agreement in principle with Ironi Kiryat Shmona for the transfer of Sekou Tidiany Bangoura, a 23-year-old Guinean international attacking midfielder. The MLS club paid $400,000 to buy out the player's contract, which the Israeli club had initially valued at $500,000. The two sides agreed on this amount following discussions that were described as rapid and constructive. Bangoura had also attracted interest from several European clubs, and FC Lorient was considered the frontrunner for some time. However, European suitors were hindered by difficulties with his release clause. While Ironi Kiryat Shmona was initially open to a move to Europe, the final decision for the player to join MLS was made in agreement with him and his club. Bangoura is set to sign a two-season contract with an option for a third year. Sources close to the matter indicate he has already signed a pre-contract. The player's entourage confirmed he left Israel mid-week. He is expected in Conakry to complete administrative procedures before joining his new team. This will be his first move to Major League Soccer.
