Sebastian Kowalczyk's contract with Houston Dynamo will not be extended and he will become a free agent at the end of the year. Following a suggestion from Pogon Szczecin fans and Kamil Grosicki for Kowalczyk to return to Pogon Szczecin, Piotr Koźmiński from Goal.pl reported that the club will not pursue his return. According to the report, Pogon Szczecin considers Kowalczyk a good player but does not plan major changes in the winter transfer window and this transfer is not part of their plans.

Sebastian Kowalczyk announced on his Instagram account that his time with Houston Dynamo is ending. Houston Dynamo did not take the option to extend his contract for another season. The next step for the 27-year-old is not yet known. He may continue his career in the MLS if he finds a willing club. It is also thought that he could become an attractive option for several Ekstraklasa clubs regarding winter transfer moves.

Sebastian Kowalczyk was listed in the MLS Expansion Draft and available for San Diego FC, but the club did not select him.
