TYC reports that the transfer of Santiago Solari to Newell's, which had been confirmed, was halted at the last moment by Newell's. The halt was due to a clause Racing included in the contract. The clause stated that if the player returns to Racing with a higher salary than he had when he left Avellaneda, the club from Rosario would have to continue paying the difference. Santiago Solari is returning to Buenos Aires to await to see if his departure from Racing will be revived. The Rosario team is optimistic that the player will advocate for the transfer to be completed. If the transfer is reactivated, Solari would join Newell's on a 10-month loan with a fee and a purchase option.

According to TYC, Argentine winger Santiago Solari's transfer from Racing to Newell's is imminent. Santiago Solari is close to leaving Racing to sign for Newell's after his relationship with manager Juan Pablo Vojvoda led to him being excluded from the squad list for the match against Banfield. A prior potential transfer for the 28-year-old winger to Toronto FC of the MLS was not completed. The move to Newell's, which manager Frank Darío Kudelka requested to strengthen the attack, would be a 10-month loan with a fee and a purchase option. In Rosario, there is an expectation that the deal will be finalized in the next few hours, with the player expected to be in the city on Tuesday, September 1, to sign his contract and join the squad. His contract with Racing expires on 31/12/2027, and his current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €3.20m. During the 2025/2026 season for Racing, he made a total of 18 appearances across the Torneo Apertura and Clausura, scoring 2 goals and registering 4 assists. Reports from August 2026 indicated that Toronto submitted a formal offer for a loan with a purchase obligation. The total value of the offer was reportedly approximately €2.5 million, and it was rejected by Racing Club. The player previously moved from Defensa y Justicia to Racing Club in January 2024 for a fee of €2.7 million.
