According to Record, a contract renewal for Samuel Soares is in an advanced stage. The parties are now confident that they will reach an agreement soon. Initially, the 24-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper was hesitant to extend his contract with the club, which is valid until the end of the next season, but the start of 2026/27 removed the goalkeeper's doubts.

A Bola reports that Samuel Soares has a new contract extension with Benfica. The 23-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper's contract extension process was concluded a few weeks ago. The goalkeeper extended his contract for one more season, now valid until June 2028. The previous renewal, for five years, had set the contractual term for June 2027. The new contract includes a salary increase. Samuel Soares was among the lowest-paid players in the squad and now has improved financial conditions. This is considered a reward for his attitude and for staying at Benfica when he could have left for more playing time, either in Portugal or abroad. Soares has 17 caps for the Portugal U21 team and has made 2 appearances in the current Liga Portugal season. His market value is €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
