The former Nigerian international, who has earned 17 caps and scored two goals for his country, was last with Watford but has been without a club for over a year. Kalu's career has also included spells at Lausanne, Bordeaux, Gent, and Trencin, and he notably moved from Belgium to France in the summer of 2018 for a reported €8.5 million. This transfer comes as Botev Plovdiv seeks solutions to their on-field issues, with the club situated at the bottom of the efbet Liga.
