John Eustace said it was really important for Ryan Nyambe to go and play football after he completed a loan move to Reading until the end of the season. Nyambe has had difficulty securing a place in Derby's first team this season due to the form of Max Johnston and Joe Ward. While he was on the bench for Derby in the win over Charlton in midweek, Derby have been keen to move players out in order to make way for arrivals. Eustace said if Nyambe can come back injury-free and play games, then it is a massive plus for them.

Derby County's 28-year-old Namibian international defender Ryan Nyambe has moved to Reading until the end of the season, and the Rams have confirmed his departure to the League One club. The former Blackburn defender's first-team opportunities had become limited under head coach John Eustace, having made seven appearances in the Championship this season. The transfer will reunite Nyambe with his former manager Leam Richardson, for whom he played at Wigan Athletic during the 2022/23 season. He is the third player to leave Derby in the current window, after Ebou Adams was sold to Portsmouth and Curtis Nelson joined MK Dons. Nyambe, who has 17 caps for his country, is under contract at Derby until June 2027 and has a current Transfermarkt valuation of €900k.
