Southend United have signed West Ham United right-back Ryan Battrum on a month's loan. Ryan Battrum told Southend's website that he was very excited when he heard about the club's interest. Kieron Dyer said it is always good to have two players for every position and that Battrum provides Vontae Daley-Campbell with great competition at right-back. Dyer added that the player has great energy, power, and strength, and can also invert, which is something they like their full-backs to do, stating that he meets all their requirements. Battrum is available for Tuesday's home match against Tamworth.

Ryan Battrum left Rush Green on Monday to join National League club Southend United. He has moved on a one-month loan, a deal which was completed after the main transfer window closed, and is scheduled to return to the London Stadium in October. He will be helped to settle in by fellow loanee Rayan Oyebade, who is also at the club.
