Rodrigo Schlegel, a 29-year-old Argentine-German centre-back, will leave Atlas to facilitate the arrival of Kevin Zenón. Schlegel, who was one of the most outstanding players and most popular with the red-and-black fans during the previous half of the season, must leave the club to create a roster space for a player not trained in Mexico, which will permit the registration of the Argentine midfielder. The center-back also did not travel to Toluca because of his contractual situation with the club's board. As he was not selected for this Saturday’s match, the defender was omitted from the squad and did not travel with the team to play against the Diablos. Schlegel did not wish to leave the club and attempted to stay at Atlas until the last moment, as he intended to continue playing for the team. His departure is also said to have caused disagreements with board members, as the player felt his exit was not completely justified. Atlas is now working with urgency to make Schlegel’s departure official, which will be followed by completing the registration and formally announcing Kevin Zenón's arrival. Schlegel joined Atlas in January 2026, and his contract is set to expire at the end of 2028. His current market value on Transfermarkt is €2.50m.
