Robin van Cruijsen has moved from FC Volendam to Sparta Rotterdam, with the transfer of the 20-year-old Dutch attacking midfielder being completed on Thursday. The move allows the player to remain at the highest level after being relegated with Volendam last season. Van Cruijsen has signed a contract at Het Kasteel until 2030. On Sparta's website, technical director Gerard Nijkamp stated that the club is very pleased van Cruijsen chose them despite interest from other clubs. Nijkamp added that they are adding an offensive midfielder with creativity who proved last season that he has an ability to score goals, and noted that at 20, he is at an interesting age to develop further. In the 2025/2026 Eredivisie season, van Cruijsen made 24 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.20m. Van Cruijsen is scheduled to be part of the matchday squad on Saturday and could make his official debut the following Sunday.
