Reggie Walsh is reportedly close to completing a season-long loan move to League One side Wigan Athletic for the 2026-27 season. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is considered one of Chelsea’s most promising academy products and signed his first professional contract last year. He has already made four first-team appearances. Walsh was integrated into the senior team under previous boss Enzo Maresca, who had praised him for doing what was demanded without being asked. The England U19 international made his debut against Djurgardens in May 2025, becoming the club's third-youngest player, and also featured in the Champions League against Ajax in October last year. According to transfer reporter Alan Nixon, Walsh is set to join Wigan. Nixon also reported that Wigan secured his signature despite significant competition from several other English Football League clubs. Walsh's contract at Chelsea runs until June 2028 and his current Transfermarkt market value is €500k.
