Claudiu Tudor, the president of Petrolul, has admitted that there have been discussions with Rapid concerning the transfer of Sălceanu. Tudor stated that a player exchange is possible and that Claudiu Micovschi, Rareș Pop, and Cristian Ignat are players Petrolul wants. He also said that Petrolul has expressed interest in other Rapid players and that it is not yet certain if any transfer will be completed.

Petrolul is interested in bringing in 20-year-old Romanian winger Rareș Pop and Cristi Ignat from Rapid this winter. The vice-president of the Ploiești team, Cristian Fogarassy, confirmed that both players are of interest to the Superliga club, but only for a loan.
