Raphael Obermair Transfer from Paderborn to FC Köln
According to Bild, Raphael Obermair is again a possible transfer target for 1. FC Köln, after a transfer failed in the summer. Trainer Lukas Kwasniok had wanted the SC Paderborn player, and an agreement existed with the 29-year-old, but the transfer did not happen because of Paderborn's transfer fee demand. Obermair is considered a potential option for the right and left flanks. His contract with Paderborn expires next summer, which makes the winter period the final opportunity for the club to receive a transfer fee. However, Bild has doubts that Paderborn will permit a transfer in the upcoming period because of their promotion race. Regarding the failed transfer, Obermair stated that he thinks everyone can understand his disappointment. He said that at some point one has to get over it and move on, but the disappointment is clearly present and he is also perhaps somewhat angry. He added that it does not help and he will continue in order to possibly get another chance.
Raphael Obermair would have liked to move to 1. FC Köln this summer. The team from Köln, with coach Lukas Kwasniok, had been trying for a long time to sign the 29-year-old, and Obermair had been in talks with them for a few weeks. Ultimately, the East Westphalians blocked a transfer mainly because Marcel Hoffmeier tore his cruciate ligament at the start of the season.
According to Bild, the transfer of Raphael Obermair to 1. FC Köln fell through. Obermair was on Köln's radar, but Paderborn's demand of nearly 3 million Euros for him proved to be a sticking point. Thomas Kessler, Köln's sports director, reportedly made several offers but was not prepared to exceed 2 million Euros, inclusive of bonuses, for a player yet to debut in the Bundesliga. Despite having reached an agreement with Obermair, the transfer was unsuccessful due to disagreements between the clubs, which included allegations of dishonesty and broken promises. Köln had been in accord with the player for several weeks, but the move did not materialize.
1. FC Köln is reportedly interested in acquiring Raphael Obermair, a 29-year-old German-Filipino player from SC Paderborn, as they search for a new left-back to provide competition for Kristoffer Lund. However, it has been indicated that the transfer is proving difficult to execute. The club is actively seeking to bolster their squad on the left flank, especially since Leart Paqarada, a potential candidate for sale, has reportedly shown no intention of leaving. Despite being allowed to negotiate with other clubs, it is suggested that Paqarada might remain at Köln, complicating the club's plans to secure their primary target, Obermair. Consequently, Köln is said to be considering alternative options. Obermair, who joined Paderborn on a free transfer in 2022, is under contract until 2026, with a market value estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.50 million.
