Talks took place between 1. FC Cologne and Rani Khedira in recent weeks. The Cologne side wanted to sign the Union Berlin vice-captain, and Khedira himself appeared open to a transfer to Cologne. According to Bild, however, the midfielder has now decided to remain with Union. The tabloid reports that Khedira will stay in Köpenick and will also play for Union in the coming season.

Rani Khedira is considered a candidate for the defensive midfield position at 1. FC Köln. According to Sky, there have been talks with his management. According to BILD information, Khedira's name is being discussed in Cologne. Both clubs are currently far from negotiations, and 1. FC Köln currently have other candidates higher on their list. Khedira's future remains open. He feels comfortable at Union Berlin, is a regular starter, and is valued at the club. A transfer to Gladbach did not happen in the summer, and BILD information states that Khedira declined the move. Khedira's valuation is estimated at around three million euros because of his expiring contract. It is possible that Khedira could leave Union Berlin on a free transfer in 2027 and sign the biggest contract of his career.
