Levski Sofia submitted an offer to Spezia for Bulgarian international Petko Hristov, but the 27-year-old defender rejected the move. It was reported that this decision displeased Spezia's sporting director, Guido Angelozzi. The Italian club had planned to use the money from Hristov's transfer to fund a bid for a new central striker on the final day of the summer transfer window. Hristov's refusal surprised Spezia, as the transfer would have been a return to the First League club where he began his career. Hristov, who has 22 caps for Bulgaria, joined Spezia in July 2021 and his contract runs until 2028. His current Transfermarkt market value is €1.50m, and he has also been linked with Legia Warszawa and Lugano.
