Legia Warszawa has contacted Spezia and the agent of Petko Hristov, a 27-year-old Bulgarian central defender who is set to leave the Italian club after its relegation to Serie C. The approach was made through an intermediary, Marcin Kubacki. The process is currently slowed by the absence of an active sporting director at Spezia, as Stefano Melissano is expected to leave. Spezia is asking for €1.5 million for Hristov, and Legia's management has a week to decide whether to meet that price or pursue other targets. Hristov has agreed to a transfer to Poland and is negotiating a three-year contract, which is one year longer than his current deal with Spezia that expires in June 2028. Another club, Lugano, is also interested in the defender, but their move is reportedly contingent on the departure of Antonios Papadopoulos. Legia aims to finalize the deal to strengthen their squad ahead of their season, which starts at the end of July. Hristov joined Spezia in July 2021, has been capped 22 times for Bulgaria, and made 28 appearances in Serie B last season.
