Péter Gulácsi's contract with RB Leipzig expires in the summer. Gulácsi and manager Marcel Schäfer have had at least two discussions about his future. Schäfer indicated that he would like to make Maarten Vandevoordt the new number one goalkeeper in the summer, which would require Gulácsi to accept a role as a number two or challenger for a new contract. Schäfer stated that the club wants to rejuvenate the squad and reduce salary costs. According to BILD, Gulácsi currently earns up to 5.5 million euros per year, but a new contract would be for no more than 3 million euros, with his salary likely to be halved. Gulácsi and his advisors are also in talks with other clubs. A winter move, which was not previously excluded, is now no longer being considered.
