Bari has recently inquired about Modena's 26-year-old Portuguese forward, Pedro Mendes. Mendes is expected to leave in January due to the anticipated arrival of Manuel De Luca. Spezia has also pursued Mendes after being unsuccessful in signing Matteo Brunori and has started negotiations with the Emilian club. The negotiations between Spezia and Modena are focused on a loan with an obligation to buy if the club avoids relegation, although a permanent transfer in January is also a possibility. The clubs are also discussing a potential player exchange; Pietro Candelari or Edoardo Soleri are being considered as possible counterparts, while Pietro Beruatto is not being considered for any deal. Mendes has two caps for Portugal's U21 team and has scored one goal in three Serie B appearances this season. His contract with Modena is valid until June 2027, and his market value on Transfermarkt is currently €1.4 million. Modena signed Mendes from Ascoli in July 2024 for a fee that was reported to be €2.2 million.
