Paul Iacob leaving Rapid Bucuresti?
According to Sport.ro, Paul Iacob has recently joined Oțelul Galați. The 29-year-old defender signed with the club on Tuesday after being out of the main team's plans at Rapid. Iacob had considered approaching the FRF Commissions but eventually reached an amicable agreement, allowing him to quickly find a new team. Although U Cluj, UTA, and Botoșani were also interested in him, Iacob opted for the project at Galați, where he signed a contract valid until the 2025/2026 season. He expressed his happiness about the move, noting the club's tradition and fantastic supporters, and is eager to contribute to the team's objectives.
Paul Iacob has received a concrete offer from Oțelul Galați, where coach Laszlo Balint guarantees him a starting position. Iacob is allowed by Rapid to leave on a free transfer. He previously refused a loan move to Katowice, Poland. The offer from Oțelul Galați is considered a priority despite interest from FC Botoșani.
Costel Gâlcă, the coach of Rapid, announced that he will not rely on Paul Iacob, who is still under contract with Rapid. This indicates that the player is not in the coach's plans for the team.
Paul Iacob, a central defender known for his significant performances against rival FCSB, was expected to transfer to GKS Katowice in Poland's top league. However, the move fell through at the last moment. He was previously loaned to FC Botoșani last season and is now expected to attend training under Rapid's new coach, Costel Gâlcă.
