German newspaper Bild confirmed that an agreement had been reached after Patrice Čović requested a departure to secure more playing time and continuity of appearances, and official confirmation has since arrived from eastern Germany. Patrice Čović said he was really looking forward to getting to know the team and the people in the city. He stated that as a small child, he used to go to the stadium with his family and therefore knew the atmosphere at home matches. Čović added that the coach’s style of play suited him very well, which was why he believed Dynamo was the right decision for him. Sören Gonther, the club’s sporting director, said that with Patrice, they were gaining a very talented player who had received excellent technical and football training. Gonther stated that his style of play had already earned him his first appearances in the Bundesliga, and it was then expected that he would take the next step in his development with them. He also said they were delighted that he had chosen Dresden.

Patrice Covic is joining second division club Dynamo Dresden on loan from SV Werder Bremen to gain playing time. Dresden's sporting director Sören Gonther stated that following the departure of Jonas Oehmichen, they were determined to take action regarding that position. Gonther said that in Patrice, they are acquiring a very talented player who has received excellent technical and football education. He added that Covic's style of play has already led to his first Bundesliga appearances and he is now expected to take the next step in his development with them. On Deadline Day, Dynamo Dresden acquired 19-year-old Patrice Covic on loan from Werder Bremen as a replacement for the recently sold Jonas Oehmichen. Covic, a central midfielder, joined Werder Bremen in July 2025. The loan was arranged to provide Covic with more playing time because of the significant competition he faces in Bremen's midfield. It is stated that the Norddeutschen agreed to the loan at Covic's request. Sky was the first to report the move. Covic is a Croatian U21 international who also has German nationality and has a market value of 4 million euros. He had previously been linked with a move to Udinese.
