Pathé Ciss is involved in a transfer battle and is attempting to leave the club by refusing to train with the team. He is not expected to play on Monday, and Óscar Valentín could start in midfield.

On January 31, 2023, Olympique Lyon offered approximately six million euros for Pathé Ciss, but the red-sashed club prevented his departure. As he left the training ground, Pathé Ciss told the media that the club had been selfish and had behaved badly. He added that they had only considered their own interests and had been irresponsible and disrespectful. He stated that this was why the move did not happen and that the reason was Presa, as was always the case.

Pathé Ciss has several offers, including a strong one from a First Division club and several from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Rayo maintains its position of demanding his ten million euro release clause. Radio Marca first reported, and AS confirmed, that Pathé Ciss refused to train with his teammates this Monday. This was a pressure tactic for the club to listen to the offers and let him leave. Rayo president Presa is aware of the midfielder’s wishes following a meeting on the night of last August 13, but their positions remain far apart.

Senegalese central midfielder Pathé Ciss, 32, has decided not to train with his teammates because he wants to leave and is receiving offers to do so, but the club is ignoring all of them. In 2023, Pathé Ciss accepted a contract renewal so that he would not leave for free and to allow the club to earn money from his departure. Now, with only one year left on his contract, there is a risk that he could leave for free if he does not transfer this summer. The Senegalese international has 34 caps for his country. His current market value is €1.80m, according to Transfermarkt.
