Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr. According to Sky Sport Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, talks with Galatasaray are continuing. In a post on X on August 28, Tavolieri reported that Nottingham Forest have made progress in the deal in recent hours and that talks with Tottenham have advanced. He added that this could lead to a paid loan with an option to buy, and that Nottingham Forest appreciate the midfielder and are trying to convince him of their project. On the same day, Matt Law reported on X that both Nottingham Forest and Besiktas have shown an interest in signing Sarr from Tottenham.

According to Flavien Trésarrieu of L’Équipe, Pape Matar Sarr is said to have chosen to stay in the Premier League. This decision directly benefits Nottingham Forest, who are now in a favorable position. The English club has the means to meet Tottenham’s demands, which is reportedly asking for around 25 million euros for the midfielder. Forest thus appears to be the main contender for the player. The transfer is not yet finalized, as the club must reach an agreement with Tottenham on the terms of the deal and also convince Pape Matar Sarr. One week remains before the end of the summer transfer window.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, there is a growing likelihood that Pape will be pushed by Tottenham to move to Nottingham.

Nottingham Forest, Everton, Aston Villa, and Al Ahli are monitoring 23-year-old Pape Matar Sarr at Tottenham, a club he joined in August 2021. Galatasaray appears to be the leading club in securing the midfielder, as an agreement on personal terms has been reached with the player. The Turkish club has reportedly had two offers rejected, with the most recent valued at around £17.1 million. Tottenham is seeking a higher fee and has set an asking price of approximately £21.4 million, or about €25 million, for the Senegal international. Sarr has 42 caps for his country and his contract with the club is valid until 2030. According to reports from August 2026, Tottenham's valuation for Premier League clubs is much higher, at around £50 million.
