Basel has been mentioned as one of several possible destinations for Stade de Reims' 22-year-old forward Oumar Diakité, who has reportedly been told he can find a new club. While his future is being resolved, the player has been moved to the Reims reserve side. Earlier in the summer, reports suggested a fee of around €3 million could be required for the Ivory Coast international (31 caps, 6 goals), who is also expected to have a five-figure weekly salary. Bolton Wanderers have reportedly made an opening offer, while Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End have also been credited with an interest. Amedspor and other clubs in Turkey are further potential destinations, although previous interest from Schalke 04 is now said to have lessened. Diakité's contract at Reims runs until 2028 and he joined the club in July 2023 from RB Salzburg for a reported €2.5 million. His current Transfermarkt market value is €5.00m.
